Instructor Wins State Educator Award
Instructor Sherle Brown was recognized as Educator of the Year by the Georgia Apartment Industry Education Foundation on Aug. 15. Brown is the Chief Learning Officer at Winthrop Management, LP and CEO of SHB Consulting Services, Inc.
“I was greatly humbled, honored and grateful to the Georgia Apartment Industry Education Foundation for recognizing me with this award. It is such a privilege to be involved with programs such as Kennesaw State University’s College of Continuing and Professional Education and to work with so many talented individuals,” Sherle said.
Sherle teaches our Fundamentals of Residential Property Management Certificate program, which was also recognized by GAIEF.
In the course, students are taught by industry professionals who possess an average of 22 years of property management experience. Apartment marketing and leasing, financial reporting, fair housing, and career development are among the skills covered. The program is approved by the Institute of Real Estate Management and the Georgia Real Estate Commission.
Sherle said the future is bright for those pursuing this certificate, as the opportunities in property management are plentiful. The ability to network with industry professionals, along with the support from professional organizations, is also an incentive of the KSU program.
“The industry is in continuous search of quality talent and rewards effort and ambition,” she said. “This program is a powerful way to get started in the industry, to transition careers from another industry or even for small apartment owners to maximize the potential of their properties.”
Carla Green, program manager, said, “It means so much to have GAIEF recognize not only our instructor but the Fundamentals of Residential Property Management course as a whole. We are so grateful to have an outstanding repertoire of instructors to provide a quality program to strengthen industry professionals.”
