Winning at UPCEA South
We sent two representatives, ESL grad Moises Arroyo and copywriter Jason Brown, to this year’s UPCEA South Conference in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and they’re coming home bearing gifts. We won six of the 10 awards given out at the conference this week, and we couldn’t have done it without a great team of staff members, supporters, instructors and students.
Moises Arroyo may be a familiar face to many of you. He was on our Spring 2014 catalog cover, and we’ve shared his story of success and perseverance to inspire others. We are so proud to see him receiving the Continuing Education Student Award.
Several of our own staff members were recognized by UPCEA. Congratulations to Brenda Lora for receiving the Outstanding Service to Continuing Education award, Karen Smith for being honored as an Emerging Continuing Education Leader, and Michelle Owen Girage for receiving the Professional Continuing Educator Award. They support our College behind the scenes and are lifelong learners themselves.
Two of our programs took home honors as well this week: the Paralegal Certificate, named a Program of Excellence, and the Training for International Educators (TIE) Program, which received the Engagement Award. TIE is part of our Languages program.
With such a winning team, we can’t wait to see what’s next around the corner! Thank you for being part of our growing, vibrant community.
