Join the Facebook Revolution
Social media is here to stay. Recently, Facebook turned 10 years old and hit the 1.3 billion user mark. Older generations are quickly discovering the platform to be an inexpensive outlet to find or stay connected with long-lost friends and scattered family members.
“Sharing and the need for communication becomes more vital with age,” said Meg Webber, program manager. “Facebook offers a platform for older people to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences about their world, home, children, and grandchildren with friends through videos and photographs.”
Facebook was not originally created to be a company. It was built to accomplish a social mission — to make the world more open and connected.

If you’re not on Facebook, don’t feel left behind. Your friends at OLLI have developed a class with you in mind! In OLLI’s upcoming Facebook Basics course, you will learn:
- Account setup
- Accepting friends
- Blocking intruders
- Adding photos
- Sending messages
Our next class is Wednesday, Nov. 12, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at KSU Center. OLLI courses allow you to join your peers and learn at your own pace in a friendly and comfortable environment. The OLLI computer lab is limited to 12 students, making it easy for instructors to provide support. We encourage you to register early due to the space limitations for this class.
DID YOU KNOW? Facebook use by 50-to-64-year-olds has increased tenfold since 2005 — going from 6 to 60 percent (Pew Research).
Don’t forget that OLLI is on Facebook, too. Join the fun at facebook.com/KSUOLLI. Share photos, win prizes, ask questions and more.
