Veteran wins iPad mini
Army and Air Force veteran Donte Reid scored big this month. He came to a military job fair, visited our table and registered to win an iPad mini.
“It was very much a surprise,” he said. “I am excited about winning.”
The Powder Springs resident is a self-described techie who likes gadgets like the iPad mini. He’s currently pursuing a master’s degree in information systems security, and he’s also looked at our Information Systems Security Professional Certificate. His next step will be to earn his CISSP, a national certification the class prepares students for.
Donte said education is important to him.
“I am looking at continuing my education because of the advantages it has when competing in the job market,” he said, “especially for technical degrees much like I have. Certifications are a huge plus to getting in the door.”
He’s taken advantage of VA Education Benefits to pursue his education, and they’ve been helpful, he said.
Wondering when you can win your own iPad mini? We’ll hold a drawing for one at our spring Career Training Expo, and next time, it could be your name we call with the big news. Circle April 2 on your calendar.
