Twice as Nice
We are humbled yet again to have our name called for two more prestigious awards – bringing the total to five in 2015 so far.
The two regional honors were awarded by the Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE) — network of diverse professionals, representing more than 300 institutions, who are dedicated to promoting excellence in continuing higher education. Barbara Calhoun, dean of the College, won the Continuing Education Leadership Award and Cindy Moss, who has taught both our Administrative Professional and Basic Office Technology certificate programs, claimed the Outstanding Faculty Award.
Dean Barbara’s award was earned by making extraordinary contributions that are widely recognized regionally or nationally over an extended period of time, and providing significant leadership in continuing education.
“Successful people know they cannot be high achievers without the team that surrounds them,” Barbara said. “Leaders should always express their gratitude and appreciation to those who work alongside of them to achieve the organization’s goals.”
Cindy’s award honors an outstanding faculty member who models effective teaching behaviors, is systematic, and motivates and cares about students.
“I was astonished to be nominated and I’m in awe to have won,” she said. “I have a genuine love for teaching and feel my hands-on approach helps students understand and grasp the concepts I am trying to teach them.”
“Cindy consistently demonstrates excellence in creative teaching and innovative delivery of learning,” said Pam Moss, program manager. “She is highly deserving of this award and we are proud to have her as one of our instructors.”
The awards will be presented on April 20 at the ACHE South Annual Conference Awards Luncheon at the Astor Crowne Plaza in the New Orleans French Quarter.
