One of our newest Summer University camps is Fashion Design. Students will learn the basics of fashion design and how styles comes to life. They will have the opportunity to develop and design fashion projects that will be showcased at the end of the week. This course is an opportunity for campers to creatively express themselves through fashion.
Meet Renee Dover, Fashion Design Instructor
Renee has more than 28 years of sewing experience. She has an Associate’s Degree in fashion design and patternmaking. She is also a trained sewing instructor and a certified ladies tailor. She has been working in the fashion industry more than 11 years as a production patternmaker.
What can students expect from their instructor?
With Renee’s extensive background in the fashion industry, students will receive a solid foundation in what could be a future career path.
Renee said, “I want to pass my passion for design and creating to a younger generation, and that is a real treat for our campers. My goal is to have students leave camp with having basic knowledge of fashion drawing and sewing techniques.”
What will kids learn in this course?
You will learn how to draw a fashion figure proportionally, how to draw clothes on the figure and how to draw a flat sketch of their design. They will put into practice their creativity to design and create something out of fabric. Students will learn basic hand and machine sewing techniques. They will also learn the complete process of designing, starting from conception to manufacturing.
