Grad Spotlight: Bookkeeper
She did it! Jervy Albritton, a recent Bookkeeper Professional Certificate graduate, brought a unique perspective to the classroom. Jervy is from Manila, Philippines, where she was an accountant. Looking to pursue a career as a bookkeeper in America, she chose our program. Jervy was sold when she learned that not only did we offer the exact program she needed, but that it also included a QuickBooks short-course class.
Jervy’s experience in the classroom had many similarities and differences to her experience in the Philippines. She was familiar with American authors, and the accounting principles she learned in the Philippines were all the same in the American classroom.
She said, “The only difference was the interaction with my classmates and my instructor being locals; it was not as intimidating as I thought it would be.”
Overall, Jervy looks back at her experience in the Bookkeeping program as a great one and said it helped her gain an edge in her qualifications to get her dream job. Acuity Complete hired her as a bookkeeper for various clients ensuring their books are ready for tax season.
The program was a valuable stepping stone for Jervy to further her career in America. She said, “The program is extensive and very helpful,” and she had the opportunity to become more “familiar with the bookkeeping practices here in the U.S.”
Her advice for anyone who is interested in the program: “It will help them a lot if they want to pursue a bookkeeping career, but they have to go through the complete course and be willing to work and study hard. The reward is a high level of knowledge and expertise in QuickBooks and general bookkeeping practices.”
