One summer, seven weeks, 60 camps: the experience of a lifetime!

Celebrating its 30-year anniversary, Summer University offers a life-changing camp experience designed for rising 1st through 12th-grade students. At SummerU, children develop life skills, memories and friendships that extend beyond summertime.

    Self-Expression
SummerU provides nearly 60 camps for youngsters to choose from and inspires kids to try new things and explore their interests. With options in science and technology, culinary arts, performing arts, visual arts and leadership – to name a few– there is definitely something to spark the interest of every rising child.

“Summer University teaches kids that they can. The camp provides a safety net that allows children to navigate decision-making processes and ultimately discover things about themselves that they would not have discovered while being at home,” said Andrea Cochran, SummerU program director.

    Positive Social Interaction
The counselors and staff guide, lead and inspire students in pursuit of their talents and abilities.

“The essential development of children is social interaction and Summer University builds children’s teamwork, cooperation and respect for each other,” said Haleigh Bullard, SummerU program manager.

Students will readily connect and engage with kids who share similar interests, but they will also have the opportunity to interact and socialize with children who are in different camps during supervised break periods.

SummerU offers students a mixture of academics and a creative atmosphere that gives them the opportunity to explore creativity, challenge their minds and stay active. “Camp means more time learning, running, playing, creating, interacting and less time sitting on the couch or in front of a TV,” Haleigh said.

“Camp offers children the mental growth and confidence that they need to handle the challenges of school and later in life, grow into well-rounded adults,” Andrea said.

Summer University starts June 6 and ends July 22. Camps are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at KSU Center. Parents can drop off children beginning at 8:30 a.m. and Extended Care is available until 6 p.m. for an additional fee.

All camp assistants are CPR-trained and all campers are required to wear identifying wristbands. Try something different and innovative this summer that will create a memorable experience for your child!
