Graduate Profile: Kenneth Ellis
Investing in yourself is a concept Kenneth Ellis has modeled repeatedly. The aspiring author first completed our Administrative Professional Certificate program before he progressed to our Basic Office Technology course. As a result, he’s attended our past two graduation ceremonies to celebrate his success. Kenneth embodies the “I Did It” credo adopted by many of our students as he is constantly striving for self-improvement. We were able to catch up with him to gather some further feedback on his experiences with us. Here’s what he had to say:
Why do you feel the need for continuing your education?
It puts me in a better position to command more [compensation] while in the workforce part-time.
Why KSU? How would you rate our programs?
I highly respect KSU’s division status and beautiful campus. These KSU programs are 110%, 5-out-of-5 stars, and 20-out-of-10 points in building you up educationally!
Discuss your experience in our Administrative Professional program and how it helped you.
I established a portfolio on a flash drive of said office tasks as defined in the course description. It has completely made all the difference with employers taking me seriously concerning clerical work (office placement).
Why did you sign up for our Basic Office Technology course? What were the most important things you learned in that class?
I learned that it complements the Admin Pro class — an icing on the cake. This program provides good office training by allowing us to get familiar with the Microsoft Office package. This is a great course for anyone who wants to sharpen their office skills. The instructor was excellent and very knowledgeable on the subject.
What’s next for you?
I’m registered to attend the Excel [2013] Intermediate class because employers are looking for it in your repertoire.
What advice would you give potential students considering a professional certificate program?
Go ahead and arm yourself with the professional education, information and skill set you need to advance in this age!
