2016 Scholarship Reception
Proud family and friends joined scholarship recipients and students Thursday, Oct. 20, at KSU Center for our annual Scholarship Reception. At the banquet, we celebrated their achievement and thanked our generous donors. This year, the college awarded over 100 students with scholarships for continuing education programs, with a collective value estimated to be nearly $82,000.
“The students awarded these scholarships are very deserving, and we are confident they will go far in their educational endeavors,” said Barbara Calhoun, dean. “Our students overcome great challenges to achieve their life’s goals. They exemplify talent, drive and courage.”
The scholarships recognize students for their academic achievements and help defray some of the costs associated with specific programs in the healthcare, hospitality, business and technology areas.
“I applied for this scholarship because I want to become a CNA [Certified Nursing Assistant] so that I can get training in the medical field,” said Carlton Williams, recipient of the Barbara S. Calhoun Scholarship. “One day, I would like to become a doctor and becoming a CNA is a great stepping stone. Without this scholarship, I may not have had the opportunity to take the class.”

The awards are made possible by donors and friends who have put KSU’s Continuing Education at the top of their giving list. $250,000 have been awarded to students in continuing education programs in the last three years.
Scholarship applications for 2017 will be accepted next April. Eligibility and award amounts vary. Have a question about scholarships? Give us a call or drop us a line on social media.
