Creative Camps Make Learning Fun
Prepare for the summer you won’t forget. Help create long-lasting memories and spark creative new ways for your child to learn. Our innovative Summer University camps truly have something for everyone. Spanning over seven weeks and totaling more than 60 camps, youngsters will discover different fields to choose from including culinary, arts, technology, leadership, performing arts and more all under the same roof. The mixture of academics plus a creative atmosphere result in a one-of-a-kind experience.
“Last year was our biggest turnout to date,” said Andrea Cochran, program director. “We always look forward to camp season because it adds an extra level of energy in our building. This year, we’re excited to introduce many new camps.”
New camp offerings are highlighted by Extraordinary Earth, Capture It! Photography, Interior Decorating for Teens, Junior Detectives, Persuasive Presentations & Debates, The Creative Writer, Little Coders and Pinterest Crafting.
Designed for rising 1st through 12th graders, the camps saw more than 1,000 attendees in 2016 — presenting a wonderful opportunity to make new friends. Back by popular demand is the return of the Chet Austin Teen Leadership Academy. Team building, community service and public speaking are all slated for this weeklong session named for the former CEO of Tip Top Poultry.
SummerU runs June to July every summer, and camps are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at KSU Center. Parents can drop off children beginning at 8:30 a.m., and Extended Care is available until 6 p.m. for an additional fee. Camp Before Care has been added this summer from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and will be available as an add-on for $20. All camp assistants are CPR-trained and all campers will wear identifying wristbands.
