Staff member, student awarded at national conference
Our college was recognized on a national level at the 2017 annual UPCEA Conference in Chicago from March 22-24. Davia Rose Lassiter, CCPE director of marketing, received the Dorothy Durkin Award for Strategic Innovation in Marketing. She was honored for the development of our “I Did It” campaign, which focuses on the empowerment, reinvention and success of our graduates, as well as her leadership in building an award-winning marketing team.
“Sharing our students’ stories and showcasing empowerment through education is immensely rewarding,” Davia said. “I appreciate this incredible award from UPCEA.”
Jermile Richards won the Outstanding Continuing Education Student Award (noncredit). After suffering a massive stroke and undergoing brain surgery in 2010, Jermile had to learn how to walk, talk, eat and run. After his miraculous recovery, Jermile was inspired to not only live a healthier life but also teach others to do the same. He enrolled in our Health Coach program to learn the tools to educate others. As a high school football coach, he is well on his way to reaching his goal of youth health education.
“I want to thank KSU for this recognition,” Jermile said. “This is a real honor.”
UPCEA serves hundreds of higher education institutions. Through national and regional conferences, webinars, training and more, resources in marketing, enrollment management, and program development are shared from coast to coast. For more information on this organization, visit upcea.edu.
