Open House Set for August 3
Are you looking to gain new skills and advance your career? The College of Continuing and Professional Education is hosting an Open House event on Thursday, Aug. 3, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at KSU Center. Prospective students, family and friends can learn about professional development certificate programs in healthcare, management, technology, hospitality, finance, human resources and more.
For Patricia Emery, Paralegal graduate, Open House was the stepping stone for a new career in the legal field. After receiving a postcard in the mail for CCPE’s biannual open house, she decided to attend the Paralegal Certificate information session and enroll in the program. Patricia refreshed her skills and landed a job after a 20-year gap. “I was not comfortable trying to market myself after being out of the industry for so long,” Patricia said. “I needed to make myself marketable again.”
Continuing Education staff, instructors and graduates will be on-site to answer questions and discuss learning opportunities. Financial aid advisors will also be available to discuss payment plans, VA Education Benefits and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funding for select programs. KSU’s Career Services and Georgia Department of Labor representatives will be available to discuss best practices to gain employment.
“We invite all career-driven individuals to explore the relevant and innovative programs our college has to offer,” said Continuing Education Dean Barbara Calhoun.
Highlighted new programs include:
- Administrative Office Management
- Certified Financial Planner™ Program
- Restaurant Operations and Management
- Professional Investigator

Registered attendees will receive an exclusive 10 percent discount for any personal class or certificate program registration. Four lucky winners will also receive a pair of premium tickets to an upcoming Braves game.
The event is free and open to the public. Registration can be completed online or by calling 470-578-6765.
