Interior Design Instructor Wins Second Educator Award

Jan Britt was honored with the Educator of the Year Award from Think Realty at their Atlanta Conference and Expo on Oct. 16. The CEO of Jan Britt Interiors and longtime CCPE instructor said, “I was told I was nominated by many people and organizations. But none are as important to me as my KSU endorsement!”

Jan has been teaching continuing education classes for more than 15 years. Her current courses are Decorating and Design for the Home (The Basics, Beyond the Basics), Holiday Decorating Ideas, and Staging Your Home for Resale.

Hands-on learning is her trademark. For example, Jan holds one class at Decorating Mart in Marietta so everyone can view fabrics, furniture and other home décor for inspiration. She also invites a specialist to educate her classes about flooring options and arranges her students to visit a home for a practice consultation.

In addition to educating others, Jan has worked with countless clients for more than 20 years to revitalize their homes. Her specialties include window treatments and home staging. HGTV and Wisecast TV have also featured Jan as part of their programming.

She was awarded the Outstanding Adult Educator from Georgia Adult Education Association in 2016. This year, Jan picked up her second educator award as one of 10 Think Realty honorees. Think Realty is a member-only organization for real estate investors (thinkrealty.com). Their annual events recognize industry professionals.

One of her students said, “I know many instructors, but none like Jan. She is always excited to learn and share her knowledge as well as going the extra mile to make sure we receive more than we expected in every class.”
