A New Name, a Dean, and Our Commitment

Kennesaw State University President Pamela Whitten and Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Kathy Schwaig have named Tim Blumentritt dean of the College of Professional Education (CPE), effective April 8. Tim has been interim dean of the college since April 2018. Previously, he served as the director of strategic planning for the university, responsible for moving KSU through the creation of a strategic plan. Tim joined Kennesaw State in 2005 as an assistant professor in management.

In conjunction with Kennesaw State’s recent logo rebranding, the College of Professional Education, formerly the College of Continuing and Professional Education, has changed its name. The new name aligns more closely with the mission of the college, which provides quality, in-depth programs taught by industry leaders through multiple delivery methods with the ultimate goal of enriching students’ lives in Cobb County, Metro Atlanta and beyond.

“As we continue to prepare people for the opportunities and challenges of today’s most in-demand careers, we realize that the world is changing too fast for one educational opportunity to last a lifetime,” Tim said. “Our new name reaffirms our commitment to offer innovative professional programs that ensure our graduates remain at the forefront of an evolving workforce.”

The College of Professional Education serves thousands of students annually, offering more than 40 professional certificate programs and more than 350 online courses in business, healthcare, hospitality, technology and more. New certificates include Agile Professional, CompTIA IT Fundamentals+, Construction Principles and Practices, Microsoft Project, Revit Architecture Essentials and Back End Web Development. New programs offered in partnership with KSU faculty include online certificates in SAS, R and Python, digital badge programs in subjects like Leadership Excellence and Business Innovation, the Pat Summitt Online Leadership Program and a suite of architecture courses, all open to the public with convenient registration through CPE.
