    What is an EKG technician? 

    EKG technicians perform diagnostic tests to aid doctors in identifying and treating cardiovascular problems in patients. These tests help detect irregularities that may result in a heart attack or heart disease. 

    What are the duties of an EKG technician?  

    • Prepare patients for procedures 
    • Answer questions about the procedure 
    • Obtain and record the patient’s medical history 
    • Prepare and maintain diagnostic imaging equipment 
    • Operate equipment to obtain diagnostic images or to conduct tests 
    • Review images or test results to check for quality and coverage 
    • Recognize abnormal images and identify other relevant diagnostic information 
    • Analyze diagnostic information to provide a summary of findings for physicians 
    • Record findings and keep track of the patient’s records 
    • Help physicians during procedures  

    How much do EKG Techs make? 

    According to Burning Glass Technologies, As of November 2020, there have been 2,454 EKG Tech job postings in the greater Atlanta area over the past 12 months. The EKG profession is projected to grow 4.4% over the next 10 years, and the median salary is $35,519. 

    How long is EKG training? 

    At the College of Graduate and Professional Education, you can complete your EKG certification in 70 hours broken up into 21 class sessions.
