This lecture/discussion course examines America’s war on terror, both domestic and foreign, from the early 1800s to the present. Topics include Jefferson’s war against the Barbary Pirates, the Ku Klux Klan, post-WWI bombings, the Weather Underground, and the Iran Hostage Crisis. We’ll explore key events, figures, and military operations, with opportunities for participants to share their questions and perspectives.
Fritz Hutchinson has taught in public and private schools, at the junior high and high school levels, for 43 years. He earned a B.S. in History from Ithaca College and an M.S. in Education from Elmira College. Working in public schools in upstate New York from 1973 to 1983, he taught American History, Economics, Afro Asian Culture Studies, European History, expository writing and math. After moving to Atlanta in 1985, he began working at Woodward Academy the following year. There he taught American History, Economics, Government/Economics, and Military History. He retired in 2019. He lives in Powder Springs with his wife and 2 dogs.
