Database Development Introduction – Online
A number of powerful tools are available to help you build databases and database applications. However, if you do not apply a systematic, structured approach to the use of those tools, you will probably produce systems that fail to meet user needs. Many projects bog down or are never completed for lack of a disciplined approach to development. This course will guide you step-by-step through all the phases of a system development project to guarantee that the resulting product will not only work as it was designed to work, but also that the design truly responds to user needs.
- Learn the major types of database systems and where they are used.
- Learn how to build a conceptual model of a database system, based on what the users tell you.
- Learn how to create a database using the SQL language.
- Build a database application that facilitates access to the data in an Access database.
- Discuss issues of database security and data integrity.
“I have thoroughly gained a lot from this class and gained a much needed foundation to spring from. The instructor did an excellent job from beginning to end, taking a beginner to a level where they feel comfortable doing more. I would recommend this class to anyone new to databases, including those new to web development and dynamic sites. Thank you and again, great job!”
