Discover the power and possibility of flight in this immersive, one-week Aerospace Engineering Summer Camp designed for students ages 12–18. This hands-on program introduces middle and high school students to the fundamentals of aviation, aeronautics, and aerospace engineering through engaging labs, flight simulations, design challenges, and real-world applications.
Throughout the week, students will explore the history of flight, aircraft components, propulsion systems, spaceflight, and modern aerospace technology. Participants will design, build, and test model aircraft and drones, experience realistic flight simulators, and compete in a high-energy drone flight competition. Students will also engage in computer-based modeling and gain exposure to industry environments, including a professional aerospace laboratory visit and a Lockheed Museum tour.
Campers will develop problem-solving skills, technical confidence, and teamwork abilities while being challenged in a fun, structured, and inspiring environment. Whether your student is curious about aviation or already dreaming of a future in aerospace engineering, this camp provides an exciting introduction to potential STEM career pathways.
No prior experience is required — just curiosity, creativity, and a passion for discovery.

Stephen Johnston
Dr. Stephen Johnston is an engineering educator and researcher with expertise in thermal fluid sciences and design. He joined the department of Mechanical Engineering at Kennesaw State University in 2026 as a lecturer to assist with the development of the new Aerospace degree programs. Stephen has experience working with pressurized fluids at both high-temperature and cryogenic conditions. He has performed sensor and laser-based flow visualization on low-speed and supersonic flow fields. As an Eagle Scout, he is dedicated to sharing his interest in engineering and physics with younger students and developing the next generation of scientists and engineers. He is also passionate about using scientific visualizations to communicate complex physical phenomena, blending creativity with engineering to make research more accessible and engaging.
