<h2 id=\"about-camp-title\">Go behind the curtain of a healthcare career<\/h2>\r\n    <p>\r\n      In our Medical Skills camp, students discover what it's like to work in a hospital, urgent care, or doctor's office. Our nurse instructor, Fikera Gerald \u2014 known as \"Nurse G\" to her students \u2014 is joining us for another summer to share her industry experience and first-hand knowledge with our DiscoverU 2026 students.\r\n    <\/p>\r\n    <p>\r\n      This camp introduces students to basic medical terminology and safe practices, while encouraging them to envision a future in medicine and helping them discover their next steps.\r\n    <\/p>\r\n  <\/section>\r\n\r\n  <section class=\"du-section du-card\" aria-labelledby=\"skills-title\">\r\n    <h2 id=\"skills-title\">What students will learn<\/h2>\r\n    <p>In Medical Skills at DiscoverU, students will:<\/p>\r\n    <ul class=\"du-skills-list\">\r\n      <li>Explore the diverse array of career options in the medical field<\/li>\r\n      <li>Practice taking vital signs and completing patient assessments<\/li>\r\n      <li>Examine specimens under microscopes<\/li>\r\n      <li>Set up and place items into a sterile field<\/li>\r\n      <li>Practice medical knot tying as well as suture and staple removal<\/li>\r\n      <li>Engage in a hands-on bandaging and wound dressing lab<\/li>\r\n      <li>Practice correct PPE donning and doffing methods<\/li>\r\n      <li>Attend a Stop the Bleed presentation with KSU's Office of Emergency Management<\/li>\r\n      <li>Learn Basic Life Support CPR\/AED skills with KSU's Office of Emergency Management<\/li>\r\n    <\/ul>\r\n  <\/section>\r\n\r\n  <section class=\"du-section du-highlight\" aria-labelledby=\"next-steps-title\">\r\n    <h2 id=\"next-steps-title\">Continue your healthcare journey with KSU CPE<\/h2>\r\n    <p>\r\n      Interested students are encouraged to further explore their future in the medical field with KSU's Community and Professional Education.
