Grade Requirements

Grade requirements have been established to safely facilitate age-appropriate activities. Grades listed are for the upcoming year, i.e. the grade category 1-3, is for any camper who has recently completed grades K-2.

Camp Hours

All camps take place Monday-Friday from 9:00 am-3:00 pm except for the weeks of Juneteenth and Independence day. Those will be 4 day weeks. Check-in will begin at 8:50 am unless the camper is enrolled in Before Care.

Camp Attire
Campers should dress for comfort and safety; and in clothing that may become stained (art/science camps). Campers should wear athletic shoes (no flip-flops). Campers are discouraged from wearing jewelry or bringing items of value.

Lunch and Snacks
Campers are required to bring a lunch, beverages, and snacks each day. Each camp group will have a 30-minute, supervised lunch period. Refrigerators and microwaves are not available for campers to use.

Behavior Management

Because we want SummerU to have the safest and fun environment for learning, we ask campers to be attentive to instructors and staff, engage in activities and respect others’ privacy and safety. Inappropriate behavior by a camper will be redirected towards proper behavior by the camp instructor. If inappropriate behavior persists, a parent or guardian will be notified, and the camper may be asked to leave the program. 

Are there any scholarships or financial aid available for Summer U?
There are no scholarships or financial aid available at this time.

Pick Up Times

All campers must be picked up between 3:00pm and 3:15pm, or by 5:30pm if in extended care. If your camper is not in extended care and is picked up after 3:15pm, we reserve the right to charge the weekly rate of $70, per camper. 

Sign In/Sign Out Procedures

For the safety of each child, all campers must be signed in and signed out each day. Parents and guardians are required to walk their camper to and from the classroom, daily. Parents and guardians’s names must be listed on their camper’s waiver and mustshow photo identification to a staff member at pickup.

Before Care/Extended Care

Before care and Extended care is offered weekly.  Before care is offered from 7:30am to 9:00am.  Extended care is offered from 3:00pm-5:30pm. We do not prorate extended care by the day. Parents and guardians should check out their camper at the welcome table at the South Entrance of the KSU Center and be prepared to show photo ID and sign out their camper.

Lost and Found
At check in or check out inquire about the location of lost and found. Please label all of you camper’s belongings. Lost and found items not claimed after one month will be donated to charity. Kennesaw State University Community and Professional Education is not responsible for camper’s possessions that are damaged, lost or stolen.

Electronics and Personal Property

Campers should leave all personal technology and toys at home unless approved by the program manager.

We ask that campers leave their cellphones at home. Leaving phones at home allows campers to focus on being a kid, build relationships and being 100% present at camp. If a camper brings a cell phone to camp, they will be asked to put their phone away. If cell phone usage becomes an issue, parents/guardians will be contacted.

Illness and Injury

If a camper becomes ill or injured at camp, our staff will contact a parent or guardian to pick him/her up. For the protection of all campers and staff, any child believed to have an infectious illness should not attend camp. Please review our Covid 19 policy on the website. If your camper is injured at camp, our staff will take necessary measures to administer first aid or obtain medical care. (Please note our Summer U staff is CPR/basic first aid trained.)

Medication

We do not store or administer medication to campers. Campers may bring medications with them. Please notify a camp staff member that your camper has medication.

Refunds

  • 100% refund for all withdrawals or transfers made three or more business days (Monday – Friday) before the first day of camp.
  • 80% refund for all withdrawals or transfers made one or two business days (Monday – Friday) before the first day of camp.
  • 0% refund for all withdrawals or transfers made the day class begins or anytime following.
  • Refunds: If you paid by cash or check, refunds are processed in approximately 2 to 4 weeks. If you paid by credit card, your account will be credited in 3-5 days.

Waiting Lists

If a camp week is full, a waitlist will be generated. To be added to a waitlist, select add to waitlist through the registration portal. If an opening becomes available, parents will be contacted in the order in which their child was added to the waitlist. Children added to a waitlist are not guaranteed enrollment.

Updating the Waiver

You can edit your child’s waiver by logging into the website at cpe.kennesaw.edu and follow the instructions below to complete the waiver. Name(s), including parents, must be entered in the pickup authorization section of the waiver. If enrolled in multiple camps, each camp’s waiver will need to be individually updated.

  1. Click the Login to Register
  2. Login to student’s profile
  3. Click on Current Registration
  4. Under each camp – Click View Summer U Waiver
  5. Click Edit – enter/update any info
  6. Save
