DiscoverU STEM Summer Camps at KSU

STEM — Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math — continues to shape the future, and your student may already be curious about where it can take them in a career after high school. At DiscoverU, we offer hands-on summer camps designed to unlock what's possible through real-world learning, creativity, and exploration.

DiscoverU STEM Summer Camps at Kennesaw State University

This year, students can dive into design with AutoCAD or explore the skies in our Aerospace Engineering Camps.

AutoCAD

Curious about engineering or design? Our AutoCAD camp introduces high school students to the fundamentals of 2D and 3D design while building real-world skills used in industries like architecture and manufacturing.

Held in a computer lab in the KSU Center and taught by a working engineer, students will:

  • Learn to think like an engineer
  • Create detailed drawings with dimensions and annotations
  • Explore core design and engineering principles
  • Gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD software

A Note from Our AutoCAD Instructor, Erick Hohler

For Students

The AutoCAD course is designed for anyone to be able to participate, no matter their skill level with design, and is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to engineering and design principles before deciding on a major or degree to see if it is something they are truly interested in.

For Parents

The course is designed for anyone to succeed and learn, as long as they participate in the class activities. It is an extremely hands-on course with plenty of one-on-one time for students to ask questions and have help and feedback on the projects they are working on. It covers a variety of concepts to provide as much exposure as possible to the different aspects and industries using design.

Aerospace Engineering Camp

KSU's Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology invites STEM-driven middle and high school students to experience a week of discovery at Aerospace Engineering Summer Camp. Hosted on KSU's Marietta campus in the Engineering Technology Center, this camp offers students a true taste of college life in age-related learning groups.

A Note About Our Aerospace Engineering Camps

For Students

You will explore the history of flight, aircraft components, propulsion systems, spaceflight, and modern aerospace technology. You will design, build, and test model aircraft and drones, experience realistic flight simulators, and compete in a high-energy drone flight competition. You will also engage in computer-based modeling and gain exposure to industry environments, including a professional aerospace laboratory visit and a Lockheed Martin museum tour.

For Parents

Campers will develop problem-solving skills, technical confidence, and teamwork abilities while being challenged in a fun, structured, and inspiring environment. Whether your student is curious about aviation or already dreaming of a future in aerospace engineering, this camp provides an exciting introduction to potential STEM career pathways. No prior experience is required, just curiosity, creativity, and a passion for discovery.

Looking for timing and price. Also my child will be 6 in August. Will she be eligible?

Hello! All pricing and camp information can be found on our home page. Also, most of our camps are designed for rising and current high school students with the excepting of our new Aerospace Engineering camp that allows middle school students to attend.

Hello. Is it too late to register? We just received this information today.

    • DiscoverU, May 7, 2026 @ 8:03 pm Reply

Not at all! We accept registrations up until 24 hours before the camp starts as long as seats are available!

Where do camp students meet on 6/1 for cybersecurity?

    • DiscoverU, May 26, 2026 @ 6:10 pm Reply

You may be confusing us with a camp that is being hosted on the KSU main campus by Kids Next Code. I found the listing on Eventbrite that has a good contact for additional information! Email Travis Reeves at info@kidsnextcode.com. We are hosting AutoCAD and Aerospace Engineering camps at the KSU Center this year! AutoCAD is full but there are still a few spots left in the second Aerospace Engineering camp if you need to enroll your student in more fun over the summer!
