Kennesaw State University is dedicated to helping you and your organization succeed. The KSU Coles College of Business and the KSU College of Professional Education have teamed up to design executive development programs using best practices in program customization, technology-enhanced learning and on-the-job application. Our classroom-based certificate programs and our digital badge mobile-learning programs are designed to help you reach your full potential as leaders, innovators and change-makers.
Award-Winning Approach to Leadership Development
The College of Professional Education, in collaboration with the Coles College of Business, has developed an award-winning approach for designing and delivering leadership development programs. The program we designed for the WellStar Health System, called the WellStar Leadership Academy, recently won the HR Excellence Award for Most Innovative Use of Technology. The award was sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Atlanta Business Chronicle. This award recognized our College’s innovative approach to technology-enhanced learning.
Designing Custom Programs
We specialize in designing hybrid programs that integrate the best practices in “GAME-fied” online learning with the best practices in classroom application. It’s called the PLAY—PRACTICE—PURPOSE approach to professional development. This innovative approach allows us to both improve and accelerate the teaching and learning process.
Learning through PLAY:
The process begins with a “learning through play” approach where everything that used to be in the professor’s PowerPoint slides and lectures have been converted into highly-engaging short videos. The videos are then uploaded into the online platform and delivered to the participants via their mobile-learning devices. The videos are then viewed in advance of the classroom sessions.
Developing through PRACTICE:
With the learning already completed in advance, using the award-winning online platform, the classroom now becomes an “Action-Learning Lab” where the program participants get a chance to apply what they learned online. There is also plenty of time for self-reflection, team development and opportunities to practice the new skills in a safe and collaborative environment.
Applying through PURPOSE:
At the end of the PLAY—PRACTICE process, the program participants are now competent and confident that they can apply the new knowledge and skills on the job. In fact, the goal is to help people clarify their PURPOSE (the “why” of their work) and how to best align their individual purpose with the purpose of the organization. This approach also identifies those program graduates who are ready to become mentors and coaches to others in the organization.
Corporate University Services
The College of Professional Education also provides programs and services that can help an organization launch their own corporate university. Working in close collaboration, together we can identify the best ways to use workforce development strategies to develop and retain your top talent. The corporate university services can also play a key role in clarifying your desired organizational culture and drive organizational excellence.
