Frequently Asked Questions

Asynchronous learning offers greater flexibility, allowing students to engage with course materials anytime day or night until the course close date. While synchronous learning requires students to meet at a specific time (in the classroom or online-live), our asynchronous program does not require everyone to meet simultaneously. Instead, students complete coursework, watch lectures, and participate in discussions online, on their own schedule within established deadlines.

Classes will start on the first Monday of January, April, July, and October and end the first Sunday of the following April, July, October, and January. This gives students approximately 90 days to complete their classes each quarter for the next two years.

NOTE: No class work assignments, quizzes, discussion board or exams will be given an exception to the due date because of the length of time student has to complete asynchronous classes. There are no exceptions.

Classes start in July: “Overview of the Law”, “Criminal Law”, “Contracts and Business Assoc.”

Classes start in October: “Overview of the Law”, “Family Law”, “Bankruptcy”, “Civil Litigation I”, and "Collection Law”

Classes start in January: “Overview of the Law”, “Legal Research Writing I and II”, “Estate Planning and Probate” and “Civil Litigation II”

Classes start in April: “Overview of the Law”, “Law Office Management and Tech.”, “Real Estate Law” and “Tort Law”

NOTE: Legal Research and Writing I and Legal Research and Writing II must be taken together for asynchronous. If students have already completed Legal Research and Writing I in the synchronous classes, the options are to take Legal Research and Writing II synchronously or to retake Legal Research and Writing I and Legal Research and Writing II in the asynchronous classes. There are no exceptions.

You will not have to retake any of the classes if you have taken and successfully completed the class from our classroom/synchronous KSU program. Both synchronous and asynchronous classes in the KSU program will be applied toward the classes in the Paralegal Certificate program within the 36- month window.
Yes.
No. The same textbooks will be used for both types of classes. The registration fee will be the same for both classes also. Please note that in the asynchronous program, Legal Research and Writing I and II are combined, so the price will reflect this fact.
Each asynchronous course has a set start date and a set end date, giving you approximately 90 days to complete the course material. Strict end dates apply.
The only exception to registration limits is “Legal Research and Writing I” and “Legal Research and Writing II” combined asynchronous classes. There are only 39 seats available for the combined classes with no exceptions. Early registration is recommended because of limited seating.
Yes.
While a Windows PC is required for Law Office Management and Technology, all other courses can be successfully completed using a PC or Mac computer. Tablets, phones, and Chromebooks cannot be utilized for any course.
KSU students are eligible for a 25 percent discount for the asynchronous program. Please contact cefinancialaid@kennesaw.edu prior to registration.
