This course will build on your existing user-level knowledge and experience with PC software and hardware to present skills and concepts you will use on the job. Learn to assemble components based on customer requirements, install, configure, and maintain PCs, mobile devices, and software for end users, and understand the basics of networking and security forensics, scripting, virtualization, desktop imaging, and deployment. This course will help prepare students to take the CompTIA A+ Core 1 and Core 2 exams. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to:
- Install and configure PC system unit components and peripheral devices.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot displays, multimedia devices, and storage devices.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot internal system components.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems.
- Explain network infrastructure.
- Configure network connection settings.
- Manage users, workstations, and shared resources.
- Compare and contrast client-side virtualization and server-side virtualization.
- Implement physical security to protect equipment from theft and tampering.
- Secure workstations and data.
- Troubleshoot workstation security issues.
- Support and troubleshoot laptops, mobile devices, and print devices.
Prerequisites: To ensure your success in this course, you should have experience with basic computer user skills, be able to complete tasks in the Microsoft Windows environment, be able to search for, browse, and access information on the internet, and have basic knowledge of computing concepts. Requirements: Textbooks are required on the first day of class. A USB thumb drive or external hard disk is required. Access to the internet and a computer is required.

In June 2004, Sandie Hofmann received her Associates of Applied Science from Georgia Highland College (former Floyd College). In May 2008, she received her Bachelor’s in Information Technology from Southern Polytechnic State University (Kennesaw State University). In May of 2014 Sandie received her master’s in information technology (Security and Assurance) from American Public University.
She also obtained various certifications: CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+, Server+, CCNA, CCENT, and MSCE).
Sandie has worked in various positions related to Information Technology but also in the engineering field (mechanical, electrical, plant and civil).
She enjoys doing any kind of crafts, jewelry making, painting and just about anything that requires creativity. Sandie also does home repairs.
