What is the purpose of studying in the IEP?

Students study in the KSU Intensive English Program for many reasons—primarily for entrance to a college or university. Reasons include, but are not limited to, studying Academic English for university entrance, career development and enhancement, cultural immersion, study abroad/student exchange, and fulfilling education requirements for Au Pairs.

Do you offer online courses?

Currently, we do not offer online courses. All courses are face-to-face, in-person classes. Our classroom spaces are on KSU’s main campus and in the KSU Center.

I’m under the age of 18. Can I study in the IEP?

The minimum age requirement for the IEP is 16 years of age. Applicants under the age of 18 must submit a waiver form for minors completed by their parent(s) or legal guardian. This must be completed before starting the application process. To receive the waiver form, email us at iep@kennesaw.edu.

What documents do I need to enroll in the IEP?

Documents such as a high school diploma, immigration documentation (green card, etc.), driver’s license, etc. are not required or needed to apply for enrollment in our Program. Date of birth and some form of ID to verify it may be needed upon enrollment.

How long does it take to complete the Program?

The IEP has four (4) levels: Low Intermediate, High Intermediate, Low Advanced, and High Advanced. Each level lasts one term, and our terms are eight weeks. If someone starts in Low Intermediate and makes satisfactory progress throughout the Program, they can complete it in two semesters (or eight months). For example, if a student starts in August in Low Intermediate, they could complete the Program in May the following year. Starting at a higher level would mean finishing in less than eight months.

What is the refund policy?

Students may receive a 100% refund of IEP class tuition before the start of classes, or a 75% refund of IEP class tuition during the first week of classes.

No refunds will be given after the first week of classes under any circumstances. No refund will be given for application fees.

Which level will I begin at once I’m enrolled?

All students must attend the mandatory placement testing and orientation session held the week before the start of classes. Based on the results of your exam, you will be placed in the appropriate level in our Program.

Where can I purchase books for my classes?

You can purchase your textbooks at the KSU Bookstore, from the publisher, or online (Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, etc.). More information will be discussed during new student orientation.

Do you offer any scholarships or financial aid?

Currently, we do not offer scholarships or financial aid.

Do you offer a payment plan?

Due to the short length of time for our terms (8 weeks), we are unable to offer payment plans.

Do you offer a certificate upon completion of the Program?

Yes! Students who successfully complete the Program receive a certificate of completion. We also provide a certificate of completion for each level of the Program a student completes. Certificates are NOT given for completing individual courses.
