Willie Morris
An experienced Project Management Professional practicing Project/Program Management for over 18 years. My Project Management journey began in 2001 where I served as a Military Mission Planner, Project Manager and Program Manager in the USAF, US Special Operations Command, 16th Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, Florida for over 7 years.
I studied at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, the Community College of the Air Force, University of West Florida, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and at the University of Villanova. While serving, I became a Formal Course Instructor assigned to the Air Education and Training Command for 3 years, training, writing, and developing courseware. Upon leaving the Air Force, I started a career within the Dept. of Homeland Security, and acted as a Sr. Asset Manager, Audit Team Lead and Project Manager for 6 years. During that time, I received training from the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) and became a Certified Formal Course Instructor and Train-the-Trainer. I furthered my education and formalized my Project Management studies at the University of Villanova in Project Management with certificates in The Essentials of Project Management, and Mastering Project Management in 2012. Those studies culminated in maintaining ALL A’s and a perfect GPA.
I later accepted a contract position with Delta Air Lines as a Project/Program Manager, and upon its completion, moved to the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) as a Portfolio Project Manager. After several years of Project Management work and experience, I completed my Project Management studies and received my PMP® Certification in 2016. Upon attaining the PMP® Certification, I focused on utilizing my skills as a formal classroom instructor by “giving back” to the community. I became part of an exceptional team of instructors holding cost-free, weekly training classes – volunteering my time and teaching aspiring PMP® students for 1 year in the Atlanta metro area.
Along with the Project Management Professional PMP® Certification, and being an active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), Atlanta Chapter (since 2012), my formal education encompasses:
• Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
• Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
• Associates Degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
• Two Aviation/Aerospace Safety Systems Certifications from Embry-Riddle
• Associates Degree in Logistics Management from the Community College of the Air Force,
• A Mastering Project Management Certification from the University of Villanova.
• A Certified Scrum Master (CSM®) from The Scrum Alliance
